Chippewa County and Yellow Medicine County HRA offers rental assistance through the federally funded Housing Choice Voucher program. This office serves residents who live in, work in, or plan to live in Chippewa, Lac qui Parle or Yellow Medicine counties. These three counties are located in western Minnesota (near the South Dakota border).
This is NOT an EMERGENCY or IMMEDIATE assistance program. Application processing may take 4 to 6 weeks.
Local resident applications receive preference over non-local applicants.
Income limits and payment standards are provided to the HRA by HUD.
Rental unit(s) may consist of an apartment, duplex, townhome, modular home or single-family home. All units must pass the required HUD Housing Quality Inspection prior to receiving assistance.
Applications can be submitted online or at the HRA office located at the Chippewa County Court House, 629 N 11th St, Montevideo MN 56265. Office hours are M-F 8am-4:30pm. We recommend calling prior to assure staff is available.
