Pre-Applications Open for Housing Assistance

Housing Choice Voucher (HCV/Section 8) & Project-Based Vouchers (PBVs)

The Inglewood Housing Authority in Inglewood manages the Housing Choice Voucher Program, also known as HCV (Section 8), and Project-Based Vouchers (PBVs). Both programs are federal programs managed by the US Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and operated by local Public Housing Agencies.

These programs provide rental assistance to very low-income families, seniors, and individuals with disabilities, helping them afford quality housing. Section 8 vouchers are used in the private rental market. While PBVs are used at specific locations.  

The Inglewood Housing Authority is currently accepting applications for the HCV and PBV.  

APPLICATION PERIOD:

September 20, 2025 (12:00 AM) – September 24, 2025 (5:30 PM) 
Or until enough applications are received

ELIGIBILITY AND PREFERENCES 

You must meet income limits (see below), but priority is given to:

  • Live or work in Inglewood (head or co-head must work 28+ hours/week)
  • Elderly (62+) or disabled head of household
  • Extremely low-income households
  • Living in HUD-funded housing in Inglewood is set to expire in 24 months
  • Individuals experiencing homelessness (per McKinney-Vento Act)

The final waitlists will be selected through a random lottery. Applicants not chosen in this lottery will not proceed further.

Lottery winners will be ranked by preferences and assigned random applicant ID numbers. Results will be available approximately 30 days after the closing of the list. The results are final and not subject to appeal. Rejected households can reapply when the list opens again.

As funding allows, pre-applications will be chosen from the waitlist based on preference, unit size, and household needs to determine eligibility for the HCV and PBV program.
